Description
My courses are held at Anglia Clay Supplies Classroom at Alby Crafts NR11 7QE.
Classes are mixed ability โ so everyone is welcome, whether youโre a complete beginner, intermediate or an โold handโ at pottery. Courses consist of group demonstrations & individual 1-2-1 tuition covering hand building, throwing, glazing & decorating techniquesโ so itโs up to you if youโd like to follow what Iโll be teaching each week, or if you prefer, you can work independently on your own projects with 1-2-1 guidance. Or, of course, a mixture of both.
The classroom accommodates 6 students comfortably with 4 pottery wheels, a slab roller, tables for hand building, press-moulds, tools, a good selection of slips & glazes & 3 types of clay.
There is an additional charge of ยฃ5.00 per kg for fired work.
Alby Crafts has free parking & a cafรฉ.
Please bring an apron / wear old clothes & a hand towel. ย If bringing your own refreshments please bring a lidded cup. I have set up a WhatsApp group for my classes โ please let me know if you would like to join as itโs the easiest way for me to send information out to everyone once the class is up & running.
Please advise me of any additional needs that you may have in advance of the start of the course.

Fabulous course. Set in beautiful surroundings in a very well equipped studio.
Michelle has a wealth of knowledge and is such a talented potter. Her support and encouragement bring out the best in everyone no matter what technique theyโre learning
The course is perfect for absolute beginners or potters who already know what theyโre doing
I canโt recommend it highly enough.

Although I’m a potter already familiar with most core techniques including throwing on wheel, Michelle offers a great course suited to all. There was typically a take away hint and tip I picked up with each class, plus a demo of new techniques to apply too. The studio is superbly equipped, clean & organised (although a left handed wheel for us lefties would be the icing on cake) and the relaxed atmosphere Michelle fosters is great to escape the stresses of work/home life and immerse oneself in the joy of clay, and the endless possibilities. Highly recommend.

Great time at the pottery classes, learning lots of different techniques, from centering on the wheel and throwing clay, to coiling and slab building.
Well worth the time. I canโt wait for Tuesdays to come.

I have been a potter for many years and although I have my own home studio and kiln, I still thoroughly enjoy Michelleโs input. There are always new techniques to learn and Michelle is enthusiastic to share her extensive knowledge and give advice. I particularly enjoy meeting other potters, both beginners and more experienced, and seeing their work. Canโt wait to be back for the next course!

Michelle teaches us unfamiliar and exciting techniques every week to bring us on, whatever experience we already possess. Our group is very mixed ability and everyone gets her time and knowledge when we need it. She is patient, empathetic and insightful and fun to learn from. I love our pottery classes and I can see how her teaching has given me more confidence and experience to become a more capable potter. I am lucky to have her as my tutor! Alby studios are a perfect setup for learning too.

This is the first course I have done with Michelle, so I didn’t know what to expect. The studio is small but well organised and provides a calm atmosphere in which to focus on your project. Each week she demonstrates a different technique and gives handy tips on various methods of handling clay and equipment which is really helpful in building personal confidence.
